In honor of our partnership with TUNDI Productions, and their upcoming performances of Wagner’s Ring Cycle here, the Latchis Theater presents special screenings of two films which examine problematic intersections between troubled artists and the beautiful art they create.
The feature film TAR will be shown on Saturday and Sunday, August 16 and 17, at 4:00pm TAR stars Cate Blanchett in an Oscar-worthy performance as a brilliant, trailblazing orchestra conductor whose life unravels and elaborate façade crumbles, revealing dirty secrets and ugly truths. The film is Rated R and has a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Admission is by the regular Latchis matinee ticket price of $8.
Latchis Arts presents the documentary Wagner and Me, which will also be shown on August 16 and 17 at 4:00pm. Actor Stephen Fry engages in an honest examination of his passion for the works of Richard Wagner juxtaposed with bitter truths about Wagner’s associations with anti-Semitism and Nazi Germany. Admission is by donation.
