Music has the power to bring us together, across generations, cultures, and experiences. Where We Meet celebrates the connections that shape us through works that honor community, collaboration, and shared humanity. Shostakovich's jubilant Festive Overture opens the evening with exuberance and celebration, followed by Juan Pablo Contreras' vibrant La Minerva, featuring Tacoma Youth Symphony alumna Grace Youn. The concert culminates with the world premiere of Alex Burtzos' Symphony No. 1: When the Wall Is Gone, featuring members of the Tacoma Youth Chorus and choirs from high schools throughout Tacoma. This powerful new work imagines a future beyond division, where barriers give way to understanding and hope. Together, these works explore the places where our stories intersect and remind us of the extraordinary things that can happen when we come together.
