Dr. Elaine Eshbaugh, professor of Gerontology and Dementia Outreach and Education Director at the University of Northern Iowa, will present "Typical Aging vs Dementia" at the DMACC Urban Campus (building 7, room 170/171) in Des Moines on Monday, October 26, at 10 am.
Forgetting a name, misplacing your keys, or walking into a room and forgetting why you’re there—when is it a normal part of aging, and when might it be something more? This session explores the differences between typical age-related changes and signs that may indicate dementia.
Participants will learn what happens to the brain as we age, common warning signs of cognitive impairment, and when changes in memory, thinking, or behavior may warrant further evaluation.
This event is free and open to the community. No registration is necessary.
