About this Event
SOURMILK
LA-based DJ Sourmilk wields an exacting blade when it comes to cutting and mixing his eclectic and powerful playlists, combining hip hop, pop, soul, and more. A skilled producer and avid music collector, DJ Sourmilk has mastered the art of combining seemingly disparate genres into a cohesive, inspired, and compelling sonic flow. Performing in over 30 countries across the globe, including Japan, Spain, Greece and Egypt, he has garnered an enthusiastic following while opening for the likes of Ozzy Osbourne, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He’s toured with big name industry influencers like Nipsey Hussle, Dom Kennedy, and Tyga and is a regular crowd pleaser at Vegas hotspots like Hakkasan, Omnia and Tao Beach.
DJing nightly on the #1 station for hip hop in Los Angeles, Power 106 (KPWR-FM), DJ Sourmilk brings his magnetic style to The Liftoff six nights a week at 7pm (PST). As one half of the magnate-level duo L.A. Leakers (currently boasting millions of views on youtube), DJ Sourmilk also co-hosts a freestyle series featuring sessions with household names like J. Cole, Big Sean, G-Eazy, DaBaby, Jack Harlow, MGK, Nick Cannon, and more.
Originally from Rialto, California, DJ Sourmilk started DJing when he was just 15 years old. The young music aficionado started making mixtapes the analog way, by recording from tape deck - to tape deck. “Literally… I would hit record, record a snippet of something, pause it, then record something else,” laughs DJ Sourmilk. “My brother and parents got tired of seeing me do that and bought me a pair of turntables for my 15th bday.” At first, he focused solely and zealously on underground hip hop, but quickly became intrigued by the music samples used on those tracks. He developed a hobby around exploring the source material for those songs and this opened his world to the diverse group of musical genres that inform his current sound.
Today, DJ Sourmilk still draws inspiration from his love of discovering new music and will often design entire mixes around a single track that excites him. His passion is further fueled by performing in front of live audiences. “I love being able to control the vibe of a room,” he says, “Seeing people react to songs you’re playing is an amazing feeling.”
Most recently, DJ Sourmilk released his Summertime Sounds 2022 DJ Mix on Apple Music, featuring artists like Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Solange, and Kendrick Lamar alongside throwback classics like Bill Withers, Daft Punk, Madonna, and Queen. Fans can check out DJ Sourmilk’s past mixes on Soundcloud and follow him on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitch.
