About this Event
TY ICT Summer Camp – School of Computer Science, TU Dublin
Curious about how apps, AI, and smart devices actually work?
The TU Dublin ICT Summer Camp is a hands‑on, week‑long experience designed for Transition Year students who want to explore computer science in a fun, creative, and practical way.
During the camp, you’ll work in small teams to design, build, and present your own technology ideas, from smart devices to AI‑powered concepts, while learning how technology can help solve real‑world problems.
You don’t need to be a coding expert. We’ll guide you step‑by‑step as you:
- Try creative problem solving and digital creativity
- Build interactive projects using Micro:bit hardware
- Explore AI tools and learn how everyday AI actually works
- Design solutions to real social, environmental, and community challenges
- Think about ethical technology: what’s fair, inclusive, and responsible?
A big focus of the camp is AI literacy. You’ll learn where AI is used in daily life, what it’s good at, where it can go wrong, and how to design smarter, more human‑centred technology.
Each day mixes short workshops with lots of hands‑on making, teamwork, and problem‑solving. The week finishes with a project showcase, where teams explore other student's ideas and prototypes.
✔ No prior experience required
✔ Learn from TU Dublin computer science staff
✔ Make friends, build confidence, and try out university‑style learning
If you’re interested in technology, creativity, problem‑solving, or thinking about studying computer science in the future, this camp is for you.
