South Dublin County Council Arts Office presents Two Paths Meet a celebration of traditional Irish and Ukrainian art and culture produced by Sofft Productions for Culture Night 2024.
Starting at 2 pm and running until late Two Paths Meet offers a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to enjoy the folk traditions of both countries through art music poetry and dance at Rathcoole’s The Old Courthouse as part of this year’s South Dublin Live programme.
Audiences will be treated to an incredible programme including a special musical collaboration between two internationally celebrated artists – Ukraine’s first ever female conductor Victoria Zhadko and renowned Irish musician Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (The Gloaming This is How We Fly) at 9 pm. “Ukrainian and Irish cultures have so much in common both beautiful and sad that they can and must together side by side win their rightful place on the world cultural map. Enjoy live music from 2pm before exploring an exhibition by Ukrainian artist Alla Shmyhovska showcasing her beautiful folk dolls that are an iconic representation of Ukraine’s cultural heritage (2.30pm).
Get moving with a Sean Nós Dancing workshop led by the talented Rónán Regan (5pm) and enjoy poetry and songs shared by Ukrainian poet Halyna Budilova (4pm) as well as enchanting sounds of Ukrainian folk musician Kseniya Rusnak (6pm).
Two Paths Meet also features live performances of traditional Irish music led by Tom Moran & Friends (8pm) a group of local musicians who are mainstays of traditional Irish music in South Dublin County.
