Join us for a free, two-part relief printmaking workshop led by teaching artist Carrie Markel at Ri-Nu Imagination Gallery.This hands-on workshop will introduce participants to the basics of relief printmaking, including designing, carving, and printing an original image. The workshop is split across two days to allow time for learning the process and completing prints.
Workshop Schedule
Part 1: Tuesday, February 11, 2026 | 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Participants will be guided through the fundamentals of relief printmaking, including developing a design and beginning the carving process.
Part 2: Tuesday, February 18, 2026 | 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Participants will complete their prints and explore printing techniques.
No prior printmaking experience is required. All materials will be provided.

About the Teaching Artist
Carrie Markel has over 30 years of experience as a professional artist and educator. She has worked with students of all ages, facilitating collaborative projects such as murals and performance art, and has led workshops through organizations including the California Arts Commission and the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission. Carrie is an actively exhibiting artist whose work has been shown in galleries and museum settings, and she has taught workshops at institutions such as the Crocker Art Museum and the Elk Grove Fine Arts Center.
This free workshop offers a welcoming space to explore printmaking, learn a new art process, and create something by hand. For women ages +18.
