Two-Day Texture Art Workshop with Lauren Ashleigh

The question I get asked the most as a mixed media artist is "how do you get that texture?!" So I am now here to teach you some of my ways!

In this two-part mixed media workshop, you'll learn how to transform an ordinary canvas into a sculptural work of art using a variety of unconventional materials and techniques. Together we'll explore how texture can become an essential part of storytelling, composition, and expression.

During our first session, we'll focus on building the foundation of your piece. You'll experiment with materials such as cardboard, sand, rocks, joint compound, heavy molding paste, and other mixed media elements to create texture, dimension, and structure.

The following week, we'll return to complete our artwork by adding color, details, highlights, and finishing touches that bring your vision to life.

Whether you come with a clear idea or simply a willingness to experiment, you'll receive individualized guidance throughout the process. You're encouraged to bring inspiration photos, meaningful objects, or creative concepts you'd like to incorporate into your work.

Part of the workshop will take place outdoors. Please dress comfortably for summer temperatures and wear clothing you don't mind getting messy.
