Join the Sister Kate Dance Company for a BRAND NEW 4-week class experience, where students will learn a fun and playful 1960s gogo-style chorus line choreography to perform for the public.This April/May 2024 we’re kickin' boots with a brand new TWIST dance solo routine, dancing to Sam Cooke's "Twistin' the Night Away".
Over the course of 4 weeks, you will:
? Learn an original choreography, choreographed by a Sister Kate dancer
? Work on performance presence on stage
? Connect with other eager and enthusiastic dancers in town
? Perform the routine (in person unless Covid safety dictates otherwise) in front of a live audience
------- WHO IS INVITED -------
Anyone (21+) who is happy to wear the “team costume” is WELCOME to take part; all genders welcome, you only need to wear the team costume as planned for everyone!
------- WHEN and WHERE -------
Classes are at Dance Underground at 340 15th Ave E, Seattle, WA 98112
? Friday, April 26th: 7pm-8:30pm (PST)
? Friday, May 3rd, 10th, 17th: 7pm-8pm (PST)
? PERFORMANCE PREMIER: Wednesday, May 22nd at Swing It Seattle's dance (at the Polish Association Home on Capitol Hill)
* It is preferred that you are present for all classes to perform, but please reach out if there is an issue of some kind that prohibits your attendance. Sadly, if you are gone the final rehearsal of the series(dress rehearsal), we won't be able to have you perform as this is the only true REQUIRED practice.
* If you are feeling ill, please do not attend class and watch the review videos to get caught up!
------- COST -------
? $90 per dancer, for 4.5-5.5 hours of instruction, performance prep, and additional review material after class.
? We do have a handful of Discounted Pricing Option Tickets available, for those that would like to take the class but are restricted by financial limitations. Please inquire with us about these!
? Pre-registration for this class is REQUIRED for attendance.
------- WHAT WILL I WEAR? ------
CLASS SESSIONS
Wear anything comfy that you can move and sweat in. We recommend that you wear the shoes you will perform in so you are accustomed to how they will feel.
PERFORMANCE
We're asking students to wear a floral / pastel 1960s inspired looks!
1. recommend nothing too long - we want to see your dancer legs for this routine!
2. we recommend a fabric that has a little stretch and breathes
3. Check out our Pinterest board for ideas!
Please plan to spend around $25-35 on costume items. Reach out if you need any sort of additional financial support to make that happen.
?? Please do not purchase any NEW costume pieces before we chat about this in person as a class.
Shoes: Students may wear white gogo boots or flats with white knee high socks for this class!
