This Black History Month, the theme is 'Reclaiming Narratives' and we are doing so by touring the brand new historical book 'Twenty African Queens Every Young Girl Should Know About'.
'Twenty African Queens Every Young Girl Should Know About' is the collation of stories and the celebration of the amazing women who were Queens in various countries in Africa. From Ghana to Madagascar, Benin to Ethiopia, South Africa to Egypt, they were Queens who expanded empires, conquered nations, protected their people from slavery and colonialism, established new standards of femininity, defenders of their sovereignty and builders of commerce and industry. The book highlights their achievements, their drive, their passion, their warrior spirit and their leadership. This book is for girls of African descent to understand their history and take pride in it. Above all, however, this book seeks to create a sense of aspiration and fearlessness in girls of all nations, all creeds, everywhere.
