About this Event

Led by experienced TV and radio journalists, our afternoon will include:

-- Tour of BBC Newcastle's recently revamped studios, which include a new product and technology hub.

-- Workshop on live reporting, outside broadcasts and turning content into social media shorts.

-- Discussion panel: What are the challenges, opportunities and skills needed in 2023 and beyond? With guests Rachel Bullock, on-screen journalist at ITV Tyne Tees; Claire Hawthorn, senior reporter at TFM/Metro Radio; Nathan Lee, UK producer for ITV News; and Shingi Mararike, north of England correspondent for Sky News.

This afternoon of workshops will take place in-person, on Wednesday 14th June, beginning and finishing on Newcastle University's campus in Newcastle upon Tyne. Brought to you by the Civic Journalism Lab at Newcastle University, the event is free and open to anyone, regardless of experience. However, registration is essential as numbers (for the studio tour and workshop) are limited and we will need to email you key information before the event begins.
