Tutti Frutti: The Temple of the Underground tells the story of a clandestine bar in Mexico City in the 1980s. One of the city's most emblematic and iconic venues, it embodied a generation of rebellious young people. Some of the country's most important counterculture and music figures came together there, creating their own spaces for artistic expression after a long period of repression. They had been newly awakened by the social consciousness sparked by the 1985 earthquake and the Zapatista movement, an awakening that unleashed an entire cultural movement that persists to this day. The film is a tribute to that legendary place and the people who inhabited it.
