Join us for a women’s workshop where we will talk about starting a business
by solving a problem. With a simple SWOT analysis, you will have the
chance to talk it out, write it out and put it out into the world! We believe
that women have the inner power to turn their ideas into a paycheck.

Get insights from small business owners from multiple industries including bridal industry, real estate and cosmetology!

Lucy Adame-Clark, Bexar County Clerk

Lucy Adame-Clark is the first Latina and first woman elected in history, since the creation
of the Republic of Texas as Bexar County Clerk. She was born and raised in San Antonio.
Mrs. Adame-Clark is a mother of two beautiful children and the wife of a sheriff’s deputy.

Mrs. Adame-Clark serves as the Bexar County Treasurer and is a member of the Bexar
County Bail Bond Board. She is a former Clerks Division Director and is a member of the
International Association of Government Officials (iGO). She is the President of the Urban
Recorders Alliance (URA). She is a member of the Bexar County Investment Committee.
She is the Chairwoman of the Records Management Committee.

Mrs. Adame-Clark is committed to serving the citizens of Bexar County. She has always
been and will continue to be a prominent and very involved community leader.

MaryLou Castillo, Co-Founder of Lupe Arte, Austin,TX

Marylou is a dynamic force in the Austin arts community, trailblazing
in the arts serving as Executive Director of LUPE Arte, a non-profit
organization dedicated to fostering artistic expression. A native of rural
Texas, Marylou’s early academic pursuits focused on Child
Development and Sociology, while she simultaneously juggled
teaching, education, and single parenthood.

Inspired by her own experiences and a desire to create a more inclusive
art scene, Marylou co-founded LUPE Arte with local artists.
Recognizing the underrepresentation of Latinas in the arts, she
championed a space where women of color could thrive and share their
creative talents while earning equitable compensation.

Over the past 25 years, LUPE Arte has flourished,

expanding from a single program for women to encompass three
programs serving students, women, and individual artists or groups.

Silvia Alcaraz

Silvia is a longtime San Antonio resident and serial entrepreneur. A
native of Mexico, Silvia earned a BBA from UTSA and began
teaching. After a few years in education, she became a licensed real
estate agent.

Silvia combines her passion for education with her love for guiding
future homebuyers through the process of buying and selling real
estate. She also co-owns a janitorial cleaning company with her sister.
They previously owned a catering business. She is an avid mentor in
the community, often collaborating with other businesses and
supporting them by creating opportunities for mutual growth. Her
proudest achievements are her three beautiful children.

Silvia’s journey of self-discovery and transformation has inspired her to
share her knowledge with others as she acquires it and practices it,
contributing to a community of individuals seeking growth and
personal development.

Rose Avila

Rose is the definition of a social justice warrior. She advocates on behalf of the marginalized at
every chance. She dedicated many years to the nonprofit world and the state of Texas,
providing services to the most vulnerable populations. She is most passionate about women’s
issues and liberating the leader in girls and young women.

Rose was a teen mom but always felt she could do more and have more. She dropped out of
school at 15, but education became her number one passion. At 29, she joined the Navy
Reserves. At 36, she earned her BA in Communication Studies. Ten years later, she earned a
MS in Human Services. That same year, she got the first investment licenses and left social
services a year later. She is halfway through a Doctorate of Edcucation in Interdisciplinary
Leadership and will open a financial firm in 2026.
