“Origins, What dancers need to know, and “what makes it Turkish”
Part 1 of a 2-part series, this first workshop is lecture-based, outlining the influences on Turkish Oryantal, the history within Turkey, signature Turkish Oryantal dance moves (pro tip: you can use them in any style), and Turkish dancers you should know.
All levels. Lecture (in person or online) Participants will have access to a streaming recording.
Amina has over 30 years of teaching and performing Middle Eastern Dance. She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Dans Askina Turkish Dance Ensemble, and has spent over 15 years studying, teaching, and performing Turkish Oryantal Dance locally and internationally. https://dansaskina.com

Signature Turkish Moves – May 3, 10:00 – 11:30 AM, Movement (in person), recommended prerequisite: part 1
