This summer, Labyrinth Ontario reignites its Modal Music in the Parks series with 4 outdoor concerts in RV Burgess park. For the final performance in this series, we are delighted to co-present the Turkish Music Trio with Toronto Yunus Emre Institute. This group consists of expressive artists passionate about the intricate melodic modes and rhythmic patterns of the Ottoman-Turkish makam system: Begum Boyanci (vocals), Ferhan Dogmusoz (Oud), Saghi Farsijani (Qanun).

Don’t miss this series of performances highlighting cultures from Eastern Europe, Western China, through Central and South Asia. Each is distinctive, but related through the modal music system. Labyrinth Ontario actively presents this centuries old practice, while renewing it through contemporary interpretations and new compositions.
