Turkey Mountain Summer Bike Camp! Pre-K Learn to Pedal

Pre-K Learn to Pedal supports children ages 3–5 as they build the balance, control, and confidence needed for independent pedaling—at their own pace.

Designed for children ages 3–5, including those who are brand new to biking as well as those with prior balance bike experience.

Our certified coaches use a Balance First approach paired with play-based games on our custom bicycle playground. At the start of camp, pedals and training wheels are removed so children can focus on balance, steering, and braking without added complexity.

Pedals are kept on site by our coaching team. Coaches are trained to observe each child’s skills and emotional readiness and to reintroduce pedals only when a child is showing consistent balance, control, and confidence.

Children begin by learning to glide, steer, and stop with confidence. As those skills become consistent, braking is reinforced and pedaling may be introduced. Pedals are added back gradually and intentionally, based on individual readiness—not a preset timeline.

Some children may pedal during camp, while others continue building the balance and control that support future success.

Our goal is always for kids to leave twice as stoked about being on their bikes as when they arrived. All children leave with stronger skills, increased confidence, and excitement to keep riding—whether or not they are pedaling yet.

The "Ditch the Training Wheels Tour" is driven by a singular mission: to double the number of kids on bikes across the United States. While Pedal Kids USA operates year-round in Northwest Arkansas and Kansas City, this tour allows them to deploy several teams of traveling coaches to bring high-quality instruction and excitement to communities they don't usually reach and they are coming to Tulsa!
