**WHO WE ARE**Turkeys and Tartans is a local non profit dedicated to providing those less fortunate with turkeys at the holidays. We provide 100 turkeys to the community for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas - the hope, as we grow, is to increase our givings to not just turkeys, but whole holiday meals for small families. Because everybody should be able to celebrate these American traditions, regardless of station in life.
No registration required, but the goal is to ensure these go to those who need it.
**WHERE IS IT**
There will be a drive thru set up behind the old Casselberry Police Department located at 4195 S US HWY 1792. Turn onto Melody Ln from 17-92 and follow the road around. There will be signs as well to assist. Turkey giveaway will start at 11:30am, and proceed until we empty our trucks! Last time we were out in about 2 hours.
**WHY WE DO IT**
In November of 2023 I married my wife Jordan. On our wedding night we discussed what we wanted to do as a married couple. One of the things we talked about was a dream we both had -- to run a non profit. Well, October of 2024, as a one year wedding anniversary present to each other, we founded Turkeys and Tartans! Our very own non profit with a mission to ensure every family has the ability to share time with their family, over a holiday meal, to build those strong and invaluable family ties.
The idea for this charity stems from a young family I met at the very onset of my career. A Casselberry woman, living in a short term motel with two kids, posted in a local Facebook group asking if anyone could spare leftovers so her kids could have a holiday meal for Easter. I'll never forget her words "I feel like a failure of a mother", simply because she couldn't afford to get the "extras" for the holiday. I'll never forget the sadness that her message carried in my heart.
I did make sure she had food that holiday, and afterwards started a food train for holidays helping more and more families each year. Turkeys and Tartans, with the help of my wife now, is a continuation of a tradition I started for myself back in 2016.
**WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE**
We are ALWAYS seeking monetary donations. Right now, as a new charity, we provide just turkeys. But the goal is much larger and robust. We are asking community support to get there!
