Allyssa Gregory will lead a field walk complimenting her online presentation on How Historical Events Shaped the Forest of Merryspring, hosted by Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, June 2nd at 12:00 pm. The talk is free for members and $10 for non-members. Please dress accordingly and wear good hiking shoes.
Join Allyssa Gregory for a walk on how historical events, both natural and human, shaped the forests of Merryspring. During the walk, participants will have the opportunity to see the evidence of past disturbances that created the forest we have today.
Allyssa Gregory is the Maine Forest Service’s MidCoast District Forester. She obtained a forestry degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. Her professional background includes rural forestry, urban forestry, horticulture, and structure firefighting. Allyssa is involved with the Tree Farm program as a certified inspector, vice chair, and serves as county chair for Waldo & Knox. She also serves as a board supervisor for Waldo County Soil & Water Conservation District, has a passion for local history, and serves as the chair of the Thorndike Cemetery Committee.
