TUESDAY CI LAB
About this Event
For a month (this time 5 September dates)two practitioners will share their research with one another around contact improvisation. They will facilitate a lab, every Tuesday evening 7-9:30pm , for people to join the research by facilitating approaches, experiments and engage joint conversations.
Participants are invited to bring their questions and join the explorations proactively, becoming a co-researcher in the process.
The lab will provide a facilitation to meet the exploration through embodied practices that we know as well as new approaches that we will test and try out - on sprung floor!
The Depth of CI:
We want to use the lab not only for technical integrations but also to explore how we relate as humans. The support we give each other, the trust we need to function well, the realities of falling and recovering, the aftercare we learn to cultivate, and the consent and boundaries that allow us to coexist — all of these are part of our shared practice.
Our outlook is one of peaceful coexistence and a nurturing curiosity to connect with one another, deepening our understanding of what we each bring to the space, who we are, and whom we meet.
With that in mind, we welcome all who share this outlook. We explicitly do not welcome those who believe that other people’s bodies or land may be invaded, altered, or dominated to serve their own ends, or who seek to impose changes on others’ identities.
Our space is a place to engage with these realities through embodied sense-making in a safe, respectful container, where crossing one another’s boundaries — even ideologically — stands in direct opposition to what we do.

Zoe Solomons and Laura Doehler
Zoe and Laura have danced alongside each other and together for soooo many years. Back then, our children were babies. Now they are grown up.
Zoe brings a rich body of knowledge that encompasses the Axis Syllabus, Osteopathy, contemporary dance as well as folk dances that weave rhythm as life practice and allow for a contact improvisation practice to gently expand into multiple directions.
Laura
Well, you know Laura by now? She loves collaborating with different artists at this point to find the intersections of CI as life practice by understanding how others live it. There is no end in the learning and Laura is just super happy to have this lab to expand this process of learning together. Laura has taught CI pretty consistently over the past 15 years or more around London, the UK and across Europe. She's visited France, Portugal, Sweden, Germany, Czeck Republik, Cyprus, Turkey and the Netherlands as teacher and continues to travel the world as student. She is a professional dancer also, teaches in Higher Education at the National Centre for Circus Arts throughout the year and as guest lecturer in various universities.
