About this Event

Uncover the intellectual and architectural revolution that shaped one of the world’s most renowned academic institutions! In our fourth session, Tudor Cambridge: New Ideas and New Colleges (1485–1603), we delve into how the Tudor era fostered a flourishing of scholarship, innovation, and architectural splendor in Cambridge. From the founding of iconic colleges to the spread of Renaissance humanism, this period marked a transformative chapter in the university’s history.

Guided by Alex, a distinguished scholar and Fellow of multiple prestigious institutions including Christ’s College Cambridge, the McDonald Institute of Archaeological Research, and the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies at HSE University Moscow, this session explores critical questions: How did the Tudor monarchs influence the development of Cambridge? What role did the university play in the broader cultural and political currents of the era?

Join us in tracing the legacy of Tudor Cambridge, where tradition and innovation converged to leave an indelible mark on the academic and cultural landscape. Reserve your spot in this captivating exploration of history and ideas—spaces are limited!
