Free. Outdoors. Fresh. | Yerba Buena Gardens FestivalThe extraordinary acoustic ensemble Trío Guadalevín reveals the hidden cultural currents connecting Mexico to the Mediterranean, from the son huasteco and son jarocho of Mexico to Afro-Oaxacan music, Sephardic Jewish melodies, Spanish fandangos and xácaras, historic Arab-Andalusian song, Italian ciaccona and Moroccan shabia. Exploring the musical dialogue between Indigenous, European and African cultures that define Latin American identity, Guadalevín weaves a gorgeous tapestry of music, languages, culture, history and geography. The ensemble features string wizard and early music specialist Gus Denhard, Abel Rocha, a string maestro, singer and folklorist from Mexico City, and Chicano-Italian percussionist Antonio Gómez. Over the past decade the triumvirate has honed a repertoire steeped in archival research but shaped by their contemporary identities and interests.
