Melbourne Bushwalkers invites you to join them on the George Bass Coastal Walk. This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria. This walk follows the coastline near Wonthaggi to the outskirts of San Remo. Approximately 1.5 hours from Melbourne, this coastline rivals that of the Great Ocean Road. Both groups start from the same location east of Kilcunda and make their way to the coast, with the longer walk taking in the mouth of the Powlett River along the way. Whether you are seeking a peaceful day out or a journey through history, the George Bass Coastal Walk promises stunning views and a memorable outdoor experience. We hope that you will join us.
DISTANCE: Walk 1 - 12.5 km one way over 6 hours. Walk 2 - 15 km one way over 6 hours.
WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? The two walks form part of Melbourne Bushwalkers regular Sunday Bus Walks program. They are at the easier end of the spectrum of walks conducted using the dedicated bus and will suit walkers with a moderate level of fitness and are comfortable ascending hills.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The Fee for the Melbourne Bushwalkers Sunday Bus is $30. To pay and secure a seat after confirmation of registering interest through Bushwalking Victoria, participants must visit our clubrooms on either of the two Wednesdays before the walk and talk to one of the leaders. If it is agreed the walk is appropriate, payment to secure a place on the bus can be made. Our clubrooms are located at The Mission to Seafarers Victoria, 717 Flinders Street, Docklands. We are open Wednesday nights 6.30 - 8 pm. Further details on our clubroom location and the booking process can be found in the FAQs Page on our website: https://mbw.org.au/MBW_FAQs.php
