TRUTH AND FREEDOM THEATRICAL PRODUCTION

Set in the heart and soul of Virginia, Truth and Freedom is a theatrical production, highlighting the life and times of African-American heroes who were born or lived in Virginia, and who dedicated their lives to making a provoking impact on their community and beyond. A story of resilience and triumph, the audience is moved as Virginia greats such as Ella Fitzgerald, Joseph Thomas Newsome, Maggie Walker, Doris Miller and Oliver Hill come together to fight against the closing of the Truth and Freedom Center while fighting for the truth and freedom within their individual lives. Written and directed by VAs own, Crystal Sessoms, the musical production comes to life through music, poetry, percussive rhythms dance and song. Intended for all ages, Truth and Freedom is a lively interpretation and celebration of African-American history and culture. This event if free and open to the public.
