About this Event

Join Legacy for a panel discussion exploring the principles and practices of the Discovery of Self program as they relate to the success of the Minneapolis North Polars basketball team and our community at large.
The Minneapolis North Polars went from a losing team to state champions through their work with Jane Barrash as their vision, focus and mindset development coach.

We are excited to announce Jane will be joined by Cynthia Wilson (president MPLS-NAACP), Odell Wilson III (Polar Dad) and Tayler Johnson (former Polar basketball player).
Tickets to this event are $20 with proceeds going to the Minneapolis NAACP. Tickets include a link to the full film prior to the event, entry to the panel discussion and refreshments. Note we will not screen the entire film at this event.
True North: Science, Streets, and Skating Rinks of Optimism
Over the course of 8 years, the film follows the Mpls North High Polars from worst in the city to State champions (with a 95% grad rate up from 35%) and beyond; featuring life lessons and unexpected developments that entertain and inspire! It's a mindset journey of self-discovery and creating a new universe of possibility, with broad implications for positive collective transformation.
Jane Barrash, producer/director. Jane Barrash is Executive Director of Continuum Center and has worked 40 years exploring and developing consciousness, human capacity, and the interconnectedness of life. Jane brought the Continuum Center's Discovery of Self program to the boys basketball team starting in Nov 2013, as the vision, focus, and mindset development coach.
Cynthia Wilson, Polar mom in the film. Cynthia was a supervisor and director with the Minneapolis Park Board for almost 30 years and retired in 2022 to take on the presidency of Mpls-NAACP, build allyships, and lead several initiatives.

Odell Wilson III, Polar dad in the film. Odell is newly retired from 25 years supervising Federal Parole Officers, and is more actively involved in promoting True North and expanding access to the related trainings and resources.

Tayler Johnson, Polar in the film. Tayler, 23, and his brother Tyler, 26, are in the film - Tayler has a starring role in the skating show and all these years later is being trained to teach DoS and grow into a leadership role.
