True Colors, Carried On: A Pride Gathering on Grief and Legacy
About this Event
This Pride, what if our true colors included the ones we've lost?
True Colors, Carried On is an evening of small-group, facilitated conversation about dying, grief, and the legacies we leave behind, held in Jersey City during Pride Month. This isn't therapy, it's community and permission to say the word "death" out loud during a month that's usually about celebration, because both things can be true at once.
Consider bringing a photo or small keepsake of someone you're carrying. If you don't have one on hand, we'll have materials for you to write out a memory or decorate a name tag when you arrive.
What to expect:
- Intimate conversations with folks who get it
- Guided conversation prompts
- A Legacy Corner to honor who you're carrying: bring a photo or keepsake for the memory table, or use the materials on hand to share a memory or decorate a name tag
- Full bar and menu available throughout, cash bar (please support our host venue!)
Who this is for:
- LGBTQIA+ people actively grieving a loss
- People experiencing anticipatory grief (worried about losing someone)
- Those thinking about their own mortality and what matters
- Anyone tired of leaving grief out of Pride
- People who want deeper connection around life's harder truths
Come in your true colors, and stay as long as you need.
