About this Event
Truck Company operations are essential at every fire scene and can be effectively executed with or without a dedicated “Truck” apparatus. This full-day lecture is designed as a “Back to Basics” review of Truck Company responsibilities on the fireground. In the morning session, we’ll delve into fundamental Truck Company duties, focusing on standard operating guidelines (SOGs), task assignments based on building types, and critical elements of ventilation, entry, isolation, and search.
We’ll then bring these concepts together to explore how to coordinate the roles of both engine and truck companies during private dwelling fires. This session will cover essential aspects of fire attack, synchronized fireground operations to support the search, and strategies for avoiding common errors that can lead to fireground tragedies.
With private dwelling fires being the most common fire in the American fire service—and a setting where firefighter injuries and fatalities remain a concern—this class will provide crucial insights. Whether or not your department has a dedicated truck company, firefighters must perform “Truck Work” at every fire. This class will help them understand the foundational duties and responsibilities involved in those tasks.
