Troop 401 Eagle Court of Honor - 2023

Dear All,

You are cordially invited to attend the end of year TROOP 401 COURT OF HONOR AND EAGLE CEREMONY on Monday, 12 June from 5:30 to 9:00 PM at the US Embassy in Nine Elms.

All Scouts and family members are encouraged to attend. We begin with our usual Court of Honor ceremony where the rank advancements and merit badge awards that have been earned over the last four months will be recognized, directly followed by the Eagle Court of Honor.

Please plan to arrive at 17:30 so that you have time to go through security and go through to the buffet before we start. The room is configured so you can easily get up and get more food, stretch your legs or visit the bar during the ceremony.

This year the Court of Honor are asking a £20 per person contribution for the evening.

Please include all your guests' full names and country of Citizenship in an emailed response to Heather Davis at [email protected]. This is to ease access to the Embassy. You may use the same email for your entire party.

Entry Instructions:

Instructions for Visiting the U.S. Embassy

To reach the Embassy, we recommend travelling by public transport as there is no public parking available. The closest Tube Station is Vauxhall Station (Victoria Line). From Vauxhall, it takes approximately 10 minutes to walk to the Embassy; proceed from Vauxhall Tube station Exit 1 for a riverside walk or from Exit 4. Alternatively, the Embassy is two stops by bus 156, 344, or 436 from Vauxhall Bust Station Stop E to Elm Quay Court.

Security Screening:

Upon entering, please report to Security and confirm that you are attending the Scout ceremony. You will be required to produce a government-issued photo ID (PASSPORT). You will be given a visitors badge to be worn at all times while inside the Embassy grounds. On exiting the grounds the guards will collect the visitors badges and return the photo ID.

Visitors are prohibited from bringing the following onto Embassy grounds:

1) flashlights/torches in excess of 6 inches,

2) suitcases or carry-on luggage (above cabin baggage size)

3) explosives

4) guns and other weapons

5) glass bottles

6) Animals (exception - service animals)

7) Sharp objects

8) Perfume or cologne (above 30ml)

9) LAPTOPS and computers (iPads and tablets are permitted as long as there is no keyboard attached). Laptops will not be held by the guards.

10) DSLR Cameras

DO NOT BRING A LAPTOP NOR A DSLR CAMERA.

Visitors are allowed to bring the following items onto Embassy grounds, but will be subject to search and pass through an x-ray scanner :

1) Cell phone

2) Purses, handbags and regular sized backpacks

Important - Embassy guards will not hold items for guests. When in doubt, don't bring it.

Inside the Embassy:

After the security screening, an Embassy staff member will escort you into the building and to the room for the ceremony. Visitors will be restricted to the ceremony area and the adjacent restroom facilities. Access to stairways/elevators is forbidden (unless emergency evacuation instructions are given by an Embassy employee). After the ceremony, you will be escorted back through the Embassy, where you will exit.
