Join the St. Clair Shores Cultural Committee for a trolley tour of Historic Elmwood Cemetery on September 17, 2025 from, 10:15AM-1:30PM for $50 per person. Tickets on sale Monday, August 18, 2025.
Explore one of Michigan’s most historic cemeteries on a trolley tour of Elmwood! Dedicated in 1846, Elmwood is the oldest still-operating nondenominational cemetery in Detroit. Elmwood is the final resting place of mayors, governors, veterans of every war since the Revolution, abolitionists, and countless notable Detroiters.
This tour will provide an overview of Elmwood’s history, art, and landscape from a vintage open-air trolley lovingly restored and operated by Grand Trolley Charters. Much of the narration will take place on the trolley, but there will be a few optional hop-off stops to get a closer look at some interesting monuments and landscape features. If you expect to hop off, be prepared for some uneven terrain and check the forecast as the tour will be held rain or shine.
We will meet at City Hall at 10:15 am the day of the tour to check in and board the bus to Elmwood. The trolley tour will last until approximately 1pm, when we will return to City Hall. Tickets are $50 per person, and can be purchased through the Library with cash or check only, no refunds starting Monday, August 18, 2025.This event is rain or shine.
