What happens when you put three accomplished artists into a bunker? You get Troika.

This influential art collective of Liverpudlians have combined-experience across a great expanse of artistic disciplines; from tattoo design to graphic communication, they’ve worked with clients from Apple to the Home Office. Three distinct personalities who describe their own individual styles as ‘pretty punk’, ‘experimental expressive’ and ‘atmospheric/humorous backwards painting’, they work together on every canvas.

The process begins with preparing stencils-and-patterns-digitally before they flood the canvas with spray paints, inks, acrylics, and oils. Elements inspired by oriental and urban graphics, animation, urban trends, and subculture build up layered works that demand attention in any room and yet are softened by the figure that almost always dominates the composition.

They have been involved and engaged with community and charity art projects, worked in the film and music industries, collaborated with Miyagi Restaurants and of their many commissions, their most memorable was painting Steven Gerrard’s Football boots.

Reem Gallery is delighted to present a solo show by Troika from the 30th June until the 16th July.
