About David Holtgrewe, horn
David Holtgrewe is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree at the Colburn Conservatory of Music with Andrew Bain, Principal Horn of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. David is a native of Houston, Texas, and received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, where he studied under the tutelage of Robert Johnson, Associate Principal Horn of the Houston Symphony.

Before moving to Los Angeles, David regularly performed with the Woodlands Symphony, Symphony of Southeast Texas, New World Symphony, and the Houston Symphony under the baton of Juraj Valčuha. Additionally, David has spent his summers at the Idyllwild Arts, Brevard, and Texas Music Festivals.

As a passionate chamber musician, David has frequently appeared on Performance and Chamber Forum, Colburn’s premiere weekly recital series, as well as numerous collaborations with Colburn’s Chamber Music Society, Baroque and Contemporary Ensembles.

Outside of music, you can find David cooking for family and friends, going to the gym with his younger sister Vickie, walking his dumb but beloved dog Fanny, or watching TV with Spock, his old cat.

About Shu-Peng "Simon" Wang, piano

Shu-Peng Wang is a versatile pianist who transitioned from a career in biology to the world of music. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Science from National Taiwan University, where he discovered his passion for piano, joining clubs and performing regularly. This led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Piano Performance at Boston University, where he refined his technique and artistry through recitals, masterclasses, and competitions.

Currently, Shu-Peng is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate in Piano Performance at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music, studying under Dr. Tali Morgulis. His performances are known for their emotional depth and technical precision, showcasing a repertoire that spans classical and contemporary works. Shu-Peng has won several competitions and has performed with a variety of ensembles and musicians, including the Texas Music Festival and the AURA Contemporary Ensemble. His collaborative experience extends to instrumentalists, choirs, orchestras, and opera productions.

Beyond music, Shu-Peng enjoys hiking, movies, and playing badminton, leading a well-rounded and active lifestyle. His journey from biology to music exemplifies his diverse talents and unwavering dedication, making him a dynamic and compelling performer in the classical music world

About Miranda Holllingsworth, violin

Miranda Hollingsworth is a violinist from Houston, Texas currently pursuing an Artist Diploma under the guidance of violinists Min Jeong-Koh and Erika Raum at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. At the Glenn Gould School, Miranda is the recipient of the prestigious full tuition Ihnatowycz Emerging Artist Scholarship. Ms. Hollingsworth graduated cum laude from the University of Houston in 2022 where her mentors included Dr. Kirsten Yon, Timothy Hester and Dr. Rob Smith. She has performed recitals in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Ms. Hollingsworth is a violinist in the Reverie String Quartet, formed at the Glenn Gould School, and recently gave the premier of Ernest Kanitz’s String Quartet in D for the ARC Ensemble in Toronto. The premiere was described as “particularly compelling and joyous, the best of the concert” (Ludwig Van Toronto). The Reverie Quartet was also selected to record as a part of the Fifty for the Future project with the Kronos Quartet. As a soloist, Ms. Hollingsworth has won the Grand Prize in the Strings Division and the Audience Choice Award at the 2021 Moores School of Music Concerto Competition, performed with the Houston Civic Symphony, and was named a 2017 Houston Young Artist. In the Summer of 2022, Ms. Hollingsworth was invited to be a Fellowship Artist as well as a Company Member at Music By the Sea Canada.

Ms. Hollingsworth is currently playing on a gorgeous violin from 1813 by French maker Nicolas Lupot. This instrument has been generously loaned to her by Fine Instrument Consulting.

Outside of music, you can find Miranda breaking a sweat at a pilates, cycling or yoga class. Ms. Hollingsworth is also a fan of cooking and baking new recipes with and for her friends.
