Immerse yourself in the unique sounds of Fjord Sounds Trio, a collective born from a shared passion for European jazz and classical music traditions. Comprising Bryn Larkin on Guitar, Eric Quinn on Trombone and Daniel Tsang on Violin, this non-traditional trio format features guitar, violin, and trombone, drawing inspiration from master composers and improvisers such as Bela Bartok, Adam Baldych, and Wolfgang Muthspiel. Fjord Sounds Trio creates a sonic landscape that leaves ample room for exploration, transcending boundaries and reinterpreting melodies with a fresh perspective. This trio transforms the familiar into the extraordinary, weaving a musical tapestry that invites audiences to embark on a journey filled with peace, hope, and heartfelt moments.
Adding to the magic of the evening is the Jessica Carlton Trio - They will perform a set of original music by Jessica, all of which has been composed with a goal of creating calm, relaxing music that is also raw and emotional. The tunes create a musical space that encourages improvisation and collaborative musical development and connection within the ensemble. Jessica has been working on several projects in the past couple of years that have drawn on various influences and inspiration including poetry and visual art, and her experiences as a mother. The trio will perform a selection of tunes from these projects, but through a different lens unique to this trio format.
