Join composer and organist John Dixon for a concert of his own compositions on Wednesday, September 7th at noon! In addition to performing several of his nearly 900 works, he will share his compositional process and a deeper look into his music!
Born in England in 1957, John Dixon learned to play pipe organ at his high school, which had a fine organ in the assembly hall. He was not active as an organist when he moved to America in 1988. However, he filled the organ bench at his church, Providence Presbyterian Church in Virginia Beach, during an emergency in 1998 - and has now been there for twenty four years.
He completed two terms as dean of the Tidewater Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and serves on the National Council of the AGO as Treasurer and Councillor for Finance and Development.

He has been composing seriously since 1990 and now has close to 900 compositions to his credit, many of them published. His latest project is to share his own music in person in all 50 states. He is currently halfway through this endeavor.
In 2003 he was appointed Executive Director of the Academy of Music, a non-profit community school based in Norfolk.
