Liberator B-24s, four-engine airplanes, we part of the large squadron. After their bombing mission to Regensburg, Germany, they were headed for Pilsen in the then Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. On February 22, 1944, three bombers were successively shot down by German forces above Western Bohemia. One of them, B-24 “Miss Fortune” crashed near the City if Nepomuk.
