The Symphony of the Hills is a 70-member professional orchestra that draws membership from Kerrville to San Antonio and throughout the Hill Country. Shortly after the July4 catastrophic flooding and loss of life and property along the Guadalupe River, which includes the upper forks in Hunt and Ingram down through Kerrville, musicians from the Symphony of the Hills volunteered their services to perform a concert in San Antonio that would represent the Hill Country arts community's care and sympathy towards flood victims. Musicians expressed grief, shock, anguish, and charity in response to the historic damage and loss of life. Orchestra members suggested that the symphony perform in San Antonio as a sign of outreach and community partnership in responding to the great need present in our area. The Trinity University Department of Music and Laurie Auditorium quickly stepped up to co-sponsor this event, providing both musical support with the Trinity choirs appearing, as well as logistical support in providing a beautiful venue.Eugene Dowdy, Conductor & Artistic Director
