Tribal Echoes in a Digital World

Join us for an inspiring exhibition that bridges the gap between the ancient and the futuristic. "Tribal Echoes in a Digital World: The Art of Hadass Shlagman" invites you to explore a world where expressive tribal imagery and surrealistic fantasy meet contemporary digital influences. Shlagman's work, characterized by her unique technique and vibrant, layered compositions, speaks to the universal human experience in a rapidly changing world. This exhibition in Amsterdam aims to connect people through a shared appreciation of art's ability to reflect and question our reality. We envision an opening where attendees can engage in discussions about the intersection of tradition and technology, and the impact of digital advancements on our lives. In a world of constant change, Shlagman's art reminds us of the enduring power of human connection and the beauty of diverse perspectives. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Shlagman's intricate creations, reflecting on the deeper connections between their own lives and the art they encounter. Let’s come together to celebrate creativity, unity, and the exploration of what it means to be human in the 21st century

About the artist: Hadass Shlagman's art reflects her life in an expressive, tribal primitive surrealistic style, connecting her with powerful spirits, dreams, and mystical fantasy. Her work celebrates different genders, with naked bodies joyfully floating in space and sexual acts depicted as everyday banal activities in a contemporary world influenced by virtual reality and artificial intelligence. Shlagman began exhibiting her art in 1972 at the Photographers’ Gallery in London as a student of creative photography. In the early 1980s, she developed a unique technique of scratching black industrial paper and covering it with oil paints, creating a richly textured surface. She has participated in solo and group shows in the USA, Germany, and Australia. Recently, she returned to her hometown of Tel Aviv to create new art. Her art is influenced by her travels to exotic lands and the tribal art she encountered, which connects her to the spirit and strength of tribal people. Her visual world incorporates themes of love, passion, gender exploration, politics, and tradition, along with mystical creatures and inanimate objects that live with her in a magical fantasy. Shlagman explores the human condition in a constantly changing world where 21st-century technology, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, shapes society and raises questions about what it means to be human.
