About this Event
NEW TIME, NEW PLACE!
Join us for the next Triad Housing Hangout on Wednesday, January 28 (1:00–2:00 PM) at the Forsyth County Central Library, featuring a panel of local elected officials for a timely, solutions-focused conversation on the current state of affordable housing and homelessness in Forsyth County and the broader Triad.
Panelists will share what they’re seeing on the ground, discuss the policies and investments currently underway, and explore practical strategies to strengthen the housing continuum, from prevention and stabilization to long-term affordability and supportive housing.
The session will include a moderated discussion followed by audience Q&A, offering participants a valuable chance to hear directly from decision-makers and identify ways to align efforts across government, nonprofits, and community partners.
Panelist include:
- Rep. Amanda Cook, NC State House, District 60
- Dr. Patrick H. Harman, High Point City Council, Ward 4
- Ceclie "CC" Crawford, City of Greensboro City Council, District 2
- Scott Andree-Bowen, City of Winston-Salem City Council, Southwest Ward
What to Expect:
- Networking: Connect with a cross-sector mix of planners, developers, service providers, landlords, developers, and advocates.
- Discussion: Participate in an open dialogue about how other communities can learn from this initiative.
- Regional Focus: Open to anyone working in or interested in housing from Guilford, Forsyth, Alamance, Davidson, Davie, Stokes, Randolph, Rockingham, and beyond.
Coffee, water, and light refreshments provided.
Let’s build knowledge, relationships, and new partnerships to address our region’s housing needs together.
Triad Housing Hangout
The Triad Housing Hangout is a practical and solutions-oriented monthly gathering that brings together housing professionals, advocates, developers, local officials, and community partners from across the Piedmont Triad to stay connected, share what’s working, and learn from one another. The series was relaunched to create an ongoing “community conversation” space where local and regional leaders can surface timely housing challenges, highlight promising initiatives, and translate information into action.
Each Hangout features a short, focused presentation or panel often spotlighting a local initiative, policy update, or program opportunity, followed by open discussion and networking. Recent topics have included: Greensboro’s “Road to 10,000” initiative to add new housing units and streamline permitting; emerging developer training and pipeline-building through the Developer Capacity Building Program; and regional programs that support weatherization, repair, rental assistance, and other housing resources across the Triad.
At a glance:
- When: Monthly on the last Wednesday of the month, 1:00–2:00 PM
- Where: Forsyth County Central Library - 660 W 5th St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101
- Format: featured panel or presentation, facilitated conversation, networking
- Who should attend: Anyone working on (or impacted by) housing including local government, nonprofit and philanthropic partners, developers/builders, lenders, realtors, service providers, advocates, and residents
The goal is simple: make it easier for the Triad’s housing ecosystem to coordinate, by sharing information quickly, lifting up promising practices, and strengthening the relationships that move housing solutions forward.
