Avondale and other community partners invite you to help heal the river by taking part in a river clean-up event. Come help preserve the heritage, wildlife and natural beauty of the Gila, Salt and Agua Fria Rivers. The event is hosted at the Tres Rios in Avondale, at the areas also known as Base and Meridian (B&M) Wildlife Area.
Avondale Parks and Recreation, Arizona Game & Fish department, Planet A Challenge, Phoenix Raceway, and supporting sponsors will host the clean-up initiative on the river banks.
Volunteers need to bring gloves, sunscreen, sun glasses, hat, wear old work clothes and dress for the weather. Please also bring plenty of water to drink! The cleanup begins at 7 a.m. Volunteers will park in the north parking lot next to Phoenix Raceway. Phoenix Raceway is about five miles south of I-10 off Avondale Boulevard (7602 Jimmie Johnson Drive., Avondale, AZ 85323). Signage in the vicinity will point to check-in at the B&M Wildlife Area entry path adjacent to the raceway.
This hidden gem in Avondale provides for bird watching, fishing, kayaking, and is home to plenty of wildlife species. The Base and Meridian Wildlife Area is also the host location of the annual Tres Rios Nature Festival.
