About this Event
At this year's open house, we will be opening the doors at our archives building at 567 Carnegie Avenue to celebrate new projects that have happened at TVA over the past year, as well as some new acquisitions we have received. The morning will begin by acknowledging a recent Trillium grant that allowed us to make upgrades to the exterior of our archives building and stabilize our chimney. Then, local author Michael Doran will speak about his new book in our TVA Memory Series on soldier Nicholas Scott who served in the 93rd Battalion during the First World War. Copies of the book will be for sale for $50.
The open house will wrap up with a presentation from our archivist, Elwood Jones, who will speak about some recent acquisitions we have received that feature the Trent Canal, specifically two dozen large plans covering the Canal from Trenton to Georgian Bay dating from 1918 and 1924. This is a great opportunity to view the plans and learn more about the history of one of the province's most enormous undertakings!
Although the open house begins at 10am, please feel free to drop in anytime between 10am and 12pm. Refreshments will be provided.
