About this Event
Come join us for the 2nd Annual Williamson Preserve Challenge. Tackle 40 miles of greenway or up to 55 miles with singletrack! We're happy to collaborate with Oaks & Spokes and 12th State Cycling Team to celebrate National Bike Month. Also, May 3rd happens to be National Ride a Bike Day!
Date: Sunday 5/3, Roll out at 12:00pm and be back by approximately 5:00pm at the latest
Venue: Start at Trek Holly Park, shoot down the Crabtree Creek greenway to Anderson Point Park (approx 9 miles), head south on Neuse River Trail to the Williamson Preserve Trailhead just past the Johnson County line (approx another 11 miles). We'll get group photos before and after the ride.
The plan is to do a rider's meeting at 12:00pm and folks are free to share community happenings/rides/races/etc.
Ride Options:
1.) 40 miles out & back to Williamson Trailhead: Any type of bikes can handle this 40 mile out and back and e-bikes welcomed. NOTE: The entrance to Williamson is located next to the wooden kiosk on the trail. Be on the lookout for it!
2.) Same as above but your choice on how much of Williamson you'd like to do (e-bikes not permitted on Williamson, sorry). There are six loops totaling an additional 14 miles of flowy & hilly singletrack if you include Magnolia and Lily Loops.
3.) Full Pull. All of Williamson, totaling 55 miles approximately. Expect the fastest riders to take at least 4 hours minimum. No prizes or trophies as this is just for fun. That said, we do expect this to naturally get a little competitive, especially once the group hits Williamson, but please be respectful of hikers and other riders. Also, this ride is non-supported, so bring plenty of nutrition and hydration.
Safety: Bringing along a phone, daytime running lights, and a flat kit are recommended.
Food. We plan to order pizzas and will supply drinks & beer at no cost. Please feel free to bring a side and/or dessert to share if you'd like to show off your culinary skills. We'll supply free Crank Arm & Raleigh Brewing Company beer for those 21+.
We're really excited about our new Trek Ride Club App. It's fun and simple for new & experienced riders and you can win prizes (or even a Project One custom bike valued up to $15,000) with monthly challenges and find cool routes. Anyone that downloads the app prior and logs the ride gets a sweet free water bottle.
Raindate? The following Sunday 5/10. If the trail is closed, but the greenways & weather are fine, we'll just make it an out and back event on 5/10.
Thank you sponsors!
