Trek Therapy Wellbeing Walk - Entwistle and Wayoh - Lancashire

On Sunday 17th November 2024 we visit two reservoirs that are tucked into the moors north of Bolton. The oldest, Entwistle, was completed in 1838, originally to serve the mills and bleach works in the valley. Today, together with Wayoh (1876), they supply around half of Bolton’s water.

Our walk has a distance of 8.6km, mostly on good tracks with some sections on wooded and rough pastures, following a clockwise circular route around both reservoirs. Our walk concludes back at the starting point car park. This walk will last 3.5 hours with breaks.

Trek Therapy are offering this professionally faciliated wellbeing walk to Entiwistle and Wayoh as part of our wellbeing walks 'Selfcare' programme made possible through support form the National Lottery Community Fund.

This activity will be promoting social interaction, the physical and emotional wellbeing benefits of walking in the outdoors and a therapeutic value of nature connection to anyone who would like to participate.

The meeting point for this event will be at 09:45am in the Turton and Entwistle Reservoir car park, Batridge Road, Edgeworth, BL7 0LU where our Trek Therapy leaders will be waiting to greet you. There is free parking, a cafe and toilets facilities available. Please be aware the parking area is not very big so please plan your travel in advance to avoid any parking issues.

There will be an initial group briefing and overview faciliated by our 'Trek Therapy' programme leaders. The walk will commence at 10:00am.

Participants will need to ensure they have a daysack that includes the following:

• Appropriate footwear and a set of waterproofs (trousers and jacket).
• A warm layer or fleece.
• Plenty of food, water and snacks for the day.
• Sunscreen / sunglasses as required.
• A hat and pair of gloves.
• Personal Medic*tion.
• Packed lunch and water.

Please note places are limited to 24 participants.

Unfortunately we are not able to include dogs on our walks.

Trek Therapy reserve the right to refuse individuals joining the activity if they do not have the appropriate equipment listed above.
