EVENT DESCRIPTION:
This month's topic:
Financing Small-Scale Development Using Hard Money + Case Studies with Ian Lipman
Ian Lipman leads capital raising and underwriting at BETTER, a real estate firm that pairs deep knowledge of local development ordinances with in-house construction and capital-raising expertise.
That combination lets BETTER find the leverage and efficiency in local development deals that others often miss.
Ian brings a quantitative background to the work. He studied Mathematics and Statistics at UNC Chapel Hill and earned a Master's in Financial Mathematics from NC State, then spent five years in quantitative finance consulting before moving into real estate.
Since then he has built a personal portfolio worth more than $2.5 million and completed over $600K in value-add construction projects. At BETTER, he structures the financing and underwriting behind each project, with a focus on how zoning, construction, and capital work together to turn overlooked properties into strong local development projects.
