Trees and Tea (September 18)
About this Event
Welcome to Community Forestry with the City of Edmonton!
This reflective and relaxing event includes:
- Learning about and planting trees, shrubs and wildflowers native to the Edmonton area
- Forest bathing elements woven throughout the event, allowing for a mindful planting experience
- Reflection and sharing time along with Mother Earth Essentials wildcrafted herbal tea
This event is inspired by Forest bathing, also known as forest therapy or Shinrin Yoku, which is the practice of spending time in a forest or natural area to enhance well-being.
Important Considerations
*Wear and bring layers appropriate to the weather
*Please bring your own water bottle and a cup for herbal tea! (Compostable cups provided)
*Bring a blanket if you wish to sit on something during the reflection time, but cushions will be provided
*Wear closed toed shoes if you want to plant! (Crocs don't count!)
Weather
This event will run rain or shine! However, in the event of severe weather, this event may be shortened or cancelled for staff and public safety.
Severe weather conditions that would necessitate cancellation include:
- Thunderstorms or lightning
- Temperature equal to or above 34°C, including the Humidex
- Wind, including gusts, of over 45 km/h
- An air quality health index (AQHI) of 7 or above
