FAQ
What will I be doing in the class?
Besides having an absolute blast? We'll cover some cookie facts, walk through decorating techniques, and you’ll get to decorate your very own set of cookies to take home that same day.
Can I purchase an additional take-home kit or the cookie cutters from the class?
Absolutely! Many parents and aspiring cookie decorators buy extra kits to practice at home. You can add a take-home kit and class cutters during checkout, and it will be ready for you at the end of class. If you're just picking up a kit without attending the class, feel free to drop by during the session to grab it—your kit will be labeled with your name!
Do I need baking experience?
No baking skills required! The cookies will be pre-baked, and the icing will already be mixed and colored. If you’ve dabbled in decorating before, come along too! I’m happy to answer questions about icing consistency and cookie prep.
What will we learn in class?
You’ll learn how to work with royal icing, the importance of different icing consistencies, and a few pro tips to make your cookies look amazing (and taste just as good!). Depending on the class theme, you’ll learn techniques like marbling, outlining, wet-on-wet, brush embroidery, and painting. Want to freestyle? Go for it—it's your class!
What do I need to bring?
Just a smile! Everything is provided, including my delicious sugar cookies. If you're a messy decorator, feel free to bring an apron or wear something easy to clean. If you need glasses to see details, bring them along too—there will be a PowerPoint for reference. Oh, and don’t forget your phone for photos!
What age group is best for cookie classes?
Our classes are fun for almost any age—from kids to grandparents! However, children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult taking the class with them. If your child is younger or you'd prefer to teach them at home, grab a take-home kit! We’ll send you the class PowerPoint so you can guide them at your own pace.
Can my child take the class on their own?
For children under 12, a parent must attend and participate in the class as well. For those over 12, they can take the class solo, and you can drop them off and return after the 1.5-hour session. Unfortunately, due to space, we can’t accommodate parents who want to observe without taking the class. But don’t worry—you’ll have just as much fun decorating cookies as your child!
What will I bring home?
At the end of class, you’ll have a beautiful set of cookies ready to dry for 24–48 hours in a take-home box. I’ll also provide an Amazon link with the tools we used in class so you can recreate the experience at home. Plus, you’ll leave with some great new skills and sweet memories!
Can I sign up solo or with a group?
You can join the class individually, with a friend, or as part of a group. The more, the merrier! Since we have limited seating (12 spots per class), be sure to sign up early.
Where are the classes located?
The class will take place at Touch of Gray Events & Design, located at 27674 Newhall Ranch Rd, Unit 80, Santa Clarita, CA 91355.
What if I signed up but can’t make it?
We understand that things come up. You can cancel up to 5 days before the class for a full refund. If it’s closer to the class date, you can transfer your spot to a friend, or receive class credit valid for 6 months. Be sure to check out our COVID-19 cancellation policies below.
Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!
• Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re workin’ with royal icing – so grab an apron (bonus points if it’s cute – I’ll definitely be asking where you got it).
• Bring your glasses! There’s a reference slide deck to help you decorate, but if things get blurry far away, seeing glasses may be a great bet.
• Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
• Bring a mask if you’d like! These classes follow the state health guidelines, but if you’d like to wear a mask throughout class – please do!
• Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
Who doesn’t love getting out and doing something fun while also eating delicious cookies!? That’s what Cookies + Creamer is all about!
These classes are based in Santa Clarita and cater to the beginner cookier or people just looking to have fun learning a new skill. Whether you just want a fun date, a girls-or-guys-night-out or just want to explore what cookie decorating is on your own - we have a seat for you.
For our classes, all you will need to bring is yourself (and an apron if you are a messy decorator), and I’ll take care of the rest. Oh – and bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional PowerPoint if your eyesight is anything like mine. You will get a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies you will need to decorate them during the 1.5 hour class. You will leave the class with your very own box of your very own newly decorated cookies!
A little about me – I’ve been baking sugar cookies since May of 2020 – and I’ve not put down a scribe since (don’t know what a scribe is? I’ll teach you in class!). My favorite cookie themes to decorate are Baby Shower – but I can do pretty much anything if icing’s involved. I love what I do –who wouldn’t love making cookies?! It’s the sweetest job in the world!
Oh yeah - I have classes throughout the year which highlight different themes so make sure to sign up for our newsletter so you can get in on the cookie action!
Cancelation / Refund / Sick Policy
Note - My classes no longer require masks. Myclasses follow the current recommendation by the LA County government and health organizations.
Class Masking Policy:
You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like!
Showing Symptoms Before 5 Days Out:
If you’re sick prior to the 5-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And might we say thank you for quarantining. Refunds will be processed through Event-brite
Showing Symptoms After 5-Days Out:
For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 5-day refund policy, please email us before your class’s start time, and we’ll give you a credit for the next class!
You Don't Show Up or Email Prior To Class:
If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit even if you're sick. So please reach out before class if you’re feeling sick!
DIY / Add-On Kits & cutters
Order your sugar cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class, and I’ll email you the class PowerPoint so you can follow our step-by-step instructions from home! Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.
How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best!
Want to practice those dough making skills we learn in class? Purchase a set of class cutters!
Allergen Disclaimer / Class Cancelation Policy / Weather Policy / Fees Disclaimer
Allergens: Heads up – these cookies include the following ingredients: Wheat, Dairy, Eggs
Please note – these cookies are prepared in a kitchen that also bakes with common, known allergens: nuts and soy
Please consider your allergies before registering.
Class Cancelation Policy: Classes may be canceled at the discretion of me, the event host. This rarely happens – but in that extremely rare event that it does, you’ll receive a 100% refund
Classes with attendance below 4 will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! I’ll let you know if your class has low attendance 3 before the event is canceled so that you can bring a friend (hint hint) or find other plans for that day.
Weather Policy: Sometimes Jack Frost doesn’t play well with cookie class schedules, and Mother Nature seems to be takin’ notes. In the event of inclement weather, I’ll contact you with options – these may differ depending on the weather event, but rest assured – we’ll figure something out!
Event Brite Fees: Your ticket price includes your ticket fees; however, Event Brite does not refund its fees. If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Event Brite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Event Brite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!
