Ahoy mateys! Set sail for science and adventure! This exciting pirate-themed educational event combines creativity and science as kids explore the wonders of the ocean through treasure map making, pirate crafts, educational scavenger hunt, interactive marine activities, and underwater discoveries.
Join the team at the Marine Discovery Centre for a morning of interactive fun, marine-based exploring and learning, followed by a guided beach marine trail on Henley Beach where we will explore nature's treasures that wash up on our shores.
During the session, you will have access to a variety of interactive discovery stations including Kaurna learning, sea aquariums, virtual reality headsets, and hands-on interactives.
Community events in 2026 are kindly sponsored by Community Bank West Beach.

* Aquariums featuring local South Australian marine creatures such as the Ornate cowfish, Big-Bellied Seahorses, Sea Stars, Porcupine Fish, Red handed Shrimp, Gobies, Murray River Turtle and more
* Virtual Reality Headsets giving you the opportunity to explore the Great Southern Reef and our blue backyard.
* Kaurna Education Room (The Wodli) is an interactive room which highlights the relationship that Kaurna people have with the Adelaide Plains and the coast.
* Interactive models featuring our diving games, beachcombing game plus oceanography, sounds of the ocean game, fish schooling experience, climate change interactive, marine debris, marine habitats, touchscreens, sustainable fishing, stormwater, beachcombing, and get hands-on with our microscopes.
* Ocean treasure hunt and treasure map making

* Each ticket holder will receive a free beachcombing sheet to take home

COST
$16.50 per child (children 3 and under are free of charge)
* Please note: Tickets are only required for children, one parent per child (multiple children are allowed though). Parents must order their ticket (free of charge) when purchasing tickets for children. Parents must stay with children throughout the session. Children under 3 years of age are free of charge when attending with a paying child
