The Sacramento Aquarium Society is excited to host Travis Gillmore, who will give a presentation entitled, “Family Fish Room Fun," discussing how aquariums and fish have played a role in bringing Travis and his family together with friends, exploring the hobby and sharing their passion with others. Travis will describe his family’s fish operation, highlighting their conservation breeding efforts and how hobbyists can turn a hobby into an educational experience and enjoy the enormous potential that exists for people interested in freshwater fish.About the speaker:
Travis Gillmore first started keeping fish as a young child in the late 80's, and his passion for the hobby exploded a decade later when he discovered and immediately fell in love with discus. He and his son, Amaru, run a fish room with more than 160 aquariums breeding 80+ species, with a collection focused on those classified as critically endangered. Together they own and operate AAA Tropical Fish, and they've shipped thousands of home-bred, rare and endangered species all over the country. As president of the Sacramento Aquarium Society and advocate for fish conservation and sustainable ecology, Travis is focused on addressing issues affecting fish habitats and helping hobbyists contribute to solutions.

After the presentation, the meeting will include a raffle and auction featuring live fish and plants and aquarium equipment and supplies.
The Sacramento Aquarium Society meets monthly, on the first Saturday of each month, at the Round Table Pizza, 9500 Greenback Lane, Folsom, CA (the business fronts onto Madison Avenue). General meetings start at 5:00pm. Pre-meeting social time and auction check-in starts at 3:30pm. No auction check-in is allowed after meeting starts at 5pm.
