Travel to the Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands are an archipelago about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador. Charles Darwin spent only 5 weeks on the Galapagos Islands, but his observations were instrumental in the development of his ideas about evolution. Fred Bercovitch will describe his own trip to the Galapagos Islands, Charles Darwin, and the animals that inhabit the Galapagos Islands.
Dr. Bercovitch earned his PhD (UCLA) in biological anthropology and has published over 150 scientific articles. His scientific background provides a foundation for combining evolutionary biology with conservation. A Charles Darwin aficionado, he has read "The Origin of Species" over a dozen times and traveled to some of the places that Darwin lived and visited.
This San Diego Oasis event is free to attend thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library.
