Understanding and managing trauma-informed care to address challenging behaviors in the early childhood classroom
About this Event

This two-hour, in-person professional development session is designed to support early childhood educators in understanding and managing trauma-informed care and therapeudic strategies to address challenging behaviors in the classroom. With a focus on compassionate, grace-filled responses, this session equips educators with evidence-based tools to regulate both their emotions and those of their students. Participants will gain an experiential learning experience through discussions, group exercises, and hands-on activities.

Program Goals:

  • Equip educators with a deeper understanding of how trauma and stress impact children’s behaviors and emotional regulation.
  • Teach practical strategies for shifting mindset and responding to children’s needs with compassion.
  • Provide hands-on, experiential learning to help educators apply trauma-informed strategies in real-world classroom situations.
  • Introduce effective coping strategies that can be used by both educators and children to enhance emotional well-being.

Key Features:

  • Experiential Learning: Participants will engage in hands-on activities that encourage reflection and active practice of skills.
  • Trauma-Informed Practices: The session emphasizes creating a safe, supportive environment that fosters emotional regulation and resilience in children.
  • Practical Tools for Educators: Participants will leave with concrete strategies and tools to address challenging behaviors and improve classroom dynamics.
  • Culturally Responsive and Inclusive: The program is designed to meet the diverse needs of children, including neurodiverse students and those with additional learning needs.
