About this Event
Radical Transformation & Practicing Empowerment:
FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY:

*Please note!* The first evening of this class (Friday) is 5 pm - 10 pm The Saturday and Sunday are both 8 am - 7 pm

1 in 4 people are survivors of trauma.

Few have the tools and resources to manage trauma symptoms effectively. Many people may not even identify themselves as survivors of trauma. Anxiety, depression, addictions, behavioral, health and relationship issues are often the result of unresolved trauma and chronic stress.

The intention of a trauma-informed yoga practice is to build resilience, cultivate empowerment and encourage self-regulation. The intention of a trauma-sensitive yoga training is to enable teachers, leaders and agents of change with the knowledge and experience to become more skilled in teaching and relating to anyone and everyone, not just those who identify as trauma survivors.

When we feel truly safe and at home in our bodies, we can allow our body's innate wisdom to transform our past wounds into opportunities for growth and deep healing in the present moment. Embodied practices also help us to stay grounded and resilient in times of conflict and/or adversity.

During this 20-hour Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training, you will experience the integration of this work in your own body and mind as well as listen to lectures, participate in discussion, breathwork, journaling, partner and group work. This training offers an overview of the theory, language, practice, and energetics of Trauma Sensitive yoga.

In this training, we will explore:
· Anatomy of the nervous system and subtle body
· Neurological, physiological, psychological, and energetic principles of TSY
· Considerations when working with clinical/special populations
· Creating a Safe Environment: cueing, voice, language, music, adjustments
· TSY practices for private clients, public group classes and/or special populations
· How and why to include TSY principles in vinyasa or hatha group classes
· Grounding and Centering Tools to find resources in body, breath and mind
· Ancestral, developmental and institutional trauma and an introduction to social justice
· Personal trauma history and privilege so we can better serve our students
· Trauma-stewardship, vicarious trauma, burnout and self-care

Who can participate?
New and experienced yoga teachers as well as any and all health professionals and body-workers, fitness instructors, social workers, educators, health coaches, therapists, first-responders, non-profit employees or volunteers and care-givers of all kinds. Serious yoga students of all styles of yoga welcome. This training is for anyone who would like to deepen their knowledge and experience of trauma-informed yoga as well as share with and empower others. This practice is for all bodies and levels of ability.

ONCE students are SIGNED UP, I will separately send a Welcome Letter with more details including:

Required/Recommended reading, full schedule, what to bring to our sessions as well as suggestions for the weekend to integrate the material and immerse yourself in a calming, resourced and healing environment. You are encouraged to engage with as little extra stimulus as possible to really let your nervous system rest, your mind to absorb large amounts of information and your heart and body to synthesize the experience. Imagine a retreat scenario and a full reset for yourself while you immerse yourself in learning and healing.

When you have finished this training, not only will you be able to confidently lead trauma-sensitive yoga classes for specialized populations and offer principles of TSY in your traditional yoga classes, but you will also have a foundation of intimate experience of nervous system regulation within yourself so that you can lead others towards regulation and empowerment as well.

If you did not receive an email, please contact [email protected] and let them know you need to contact Shannon Carlin.

Upon completion, you will receive a Trauma-Informed Yoga Training Certificate (which you can use to apply for Yoga Alliance CEU hours), an extensive training manual, recommended reading and resources.
