ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Pavna K. Sodhi, EdD (she/her), is a registered psychotherapist, author, and adjunct professor residing in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Sodhi's research spans over 25 years with specialization in immigrant and BIPOC mental health, multicultural counselling, and trauma-informed care. She credits her Punjabi-Sikh upbringing and lived experience for her continued interest in these timely topics. As a productive ally, she takes pride in decentring systemic racism, breaking barriers, and encouraging others to be culturally responsive.
ABOUT DR. GURSHARAN VIRDEE:
Dr. Gursharan Virdee is a clinician, researcher and mental health equity advocate. She received her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of London (UK) and went on to pursue a career in Clinical and Counselling Psychology in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Virdee works with adults and adolescents experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, addictions, self-harm and trauma. She has worked in a variety of settings ranging from tertiary inpatient services through to community mental health teams and not for profit organizations.
Dr. Virdeeās research focuses on expanding understanding of mental health recovery for diverse communities, specifically immigrant and racialized communities. Dr. Virdee is an international expert in South Asian mental health. She currently leads The Roshni Project, a multi phase research and knowledge mobilization project focused on young South Asian women experiencing mood and anxiety disorders.
