About this Event

By registering for the NEAR SOUTH COHORT, please take note of the following training dates/times: ALL WEDNESDAYS, February 8, 15, 22, and March 1st. 10am-12p.

The Center for Healing and Justice through Sport (CHJS) continues the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation partnership by providing trauma-informed, mental health workshops to Chicagoans throughout 2023. Communities supported by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) are invited to attend multiple, in-person training cohorts to learn more about how to create trust and psychological safety, address the impact of implicit bias, and use tailored, evidence-based regulatory activities with young people.

The training series will include seven cohort opportunities, all including four, two-hour training sessions. Participants are highly encouraged to attend in person at the community in which they are serving and connected to.

Target Audience: People providing direct support to individuals and families who are experiencing distress and continuous trauma, including exposure to community violence. Seats will be prioritized for participants who do not have specialized training in Mental Health and Substance Use; however, mental health professionals can register if interested.
